Description

1793 Chain Cent, VG Details
S-1, B-1, AMERI. Reverse

1793 1C Chain, AMERI., S-1, B-1, R.4 -- Graffiti -- PCGS Genuine. VG Details. The E in ONE is away from the chain, common to all 1793 Chain AMERI. cents, the first copper coins struck at the U.S. Mint. The reverse maintains bold legends and central devices, while the portrait and date are well-worn but still faintly visible. Planchet roughness and porosity are normal for the issue. Three pinscratches southeast of center on the reverse accounts for the Details grade, and a crescent of bright blue color appears at the upper right obverse. The surfaces are otherwise deep brown. Our EAC grade AG3.
