Description
1793 S-1, B-1 Chain Cent, VF20
AMERI. Reverse
First Philadelphia Mint Coinage
1793 1C Chain, AMERI., S-1, B-1, R.4, VF20 PCGS. Breen Die
State III. A splendidly detailed piece with slightly grainy,
chocolate-brown surfaces and imposing eye appeal. Both sides are
well centered and void of the normally seen, post-striking injuries
so common to this issue. As future identifiers, a couple of
crisscrossing marks are seen under close examination at the center
of the reverse within the chain. An attractive example of this
coveted rarity, the first large cent variety issued and the only
die marriage with the AMERI. reverse.Ex: The Krist Collection/FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2005), lot 30090.
