1793 S-2 Chain Cent, VG Details
Philadelphia's Second Cent Variety
1793 1C Chain, AMERICA, S-2, B-2, High R.4 -- Environmental
Damage -- NGC Details. VG. Following production of the iconic
Chain AMERI. cents, the Philadelphia Mint employed the same obverse
die with a new reverse die to strike the cents that are now
identified as Sheldon-2. The reverse die featured AMERICA spelled
in full. Hints of blue toning appear on the reddish-brown surfaces
that show slight roughness on each side. While the date is
indistinct, LIBERTY is full as is the reverse legend. Liberty is
fully outlined and the chain is complete.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 223F, Variety PCGS# 35435, Base PCGS# 1341, Greysheet# 76718)
