Surfaces of Steel

1793 1C Chain, AMERICA, S-3, B-4, Low R.3, Good 6 PCGS. Steel-brown surfaces are highlighted with copper coloration on the obverse and steel-blue on the reverse. Moderate porosity can be found on the obverse, where it is more minor on the reverse, but the legends are readable and design elements discernable on both sides. Housed in a Generation 3.1 green label holder. S-3 is the most available die marriage of this important type that is the inaugural issue of all of American coinage and ranks #21 in the 6th edition of 100 Greatest U.S. Coins.
