Description
Rare 1793 Liberty Cap Cent
1793 Liberty Cap VG 8. S-13, Low R.4. The 1793 Liberty Caps are arguably the most famous and highly sought out design type among early coppers. Breen estimates that only 250 Liberty Cap cents dated 1793 exist in all grades and of all varieties. This is a highly glossy example that displays irregular striking details with the left and right rims on the obverse being weak as is the center of the reverse. The surfaces have a slightly mottled medium to darker brown appearance. A nice starter coin from this very challenging third design from 1793.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 223L, PCGS# 1359, GSID# 711)
