Description
1793 S-9 Wreath Cent, XF40
Evenly and Attractively Toned Surfaces
1793 1C Wreath, Vine and Bars Edge, S-9, B-12, R.2, XF40
NGC. Breen Die State II. Olive-steel surfaces contain faint
hints of steel-blue and red-steel on the reverse, but otherwise are
completely even in tone. Several insignificant nicks are present
before the face and below the chin. Wear is even, and minor
indistinctness on the lower reverse dentils can scarcely be
detected. As connoisseurs of American numismatics know, the Wreath
Cent is the second of three design types used in the inaugural year
of the Mint's then-quintessential denomination. The S-9 is the most
available die marriage of the type, making it ideal for type
collectors looking to own a cent from the first year of its
production, purchased within the last 12 months of its production.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 223H, Variety PCGS# 35459, Base PCGS# 1347, Greysheet# 76726)
