Description

Historic 1793 AMERI. Chain Cent

1793 Chain 1C AMERI.--Corroded--ANACS. Fine Details, Net G4. S-1, R.4. The dark brown patina has lighter color on the devices. The surfaces are rough and pitted. There is a tiny rim ding at 3 o'clock. The date and other legends are fully legible, although portions of the fraction have weak details. An early die state without any sign of the rim break that eventually developed over TAT. An affordable representative of the historic first Cent variety struck at the U.S. Mint. The ANACS encapsulation has misattributed the Cent as a Sheldon-2 variety.
