Description
PCGS 1793 Chain Cent AMERICA VG 10. S-3, R.3. The so-called "Leaning R" variety, immediately recognizable because the R in LIBERTY is high and tilts slightly to the right. Struck on a porous planchet, the surfaces are a uniform deep brown over both sides. There are no obvious marks, but if there were, they would probably not be readily apparent because of the heavy porosity. Well centered, the reverse is better detailed than the obverse, as always, but the obverse shows surprisingly good definition, especially on the hair curls at the back of the head. Trends $3,350.
