Description
Choice Sheldon-2 in Very Fine 25
1793 Chain AMERICA S-2, R.4. Sharpness of VF 25, net VF 25. Medium-brown toning and quite charming. The fields and devices are delightfully clean for the grade, and this example may be identified by a tiny rim mark over the TY of LIBERTY on the obverse, and another just past the final A of AMERICA on the reverse. One small area of light corrosion is noted surrounding the ED of UNITED. One of the nicer examples of this variety in existence, while certainly not in the Condition Census it is certainly a coin that anyone would be proud to own and display.Ex: Charles H. Deetz Collection, (Stack's, 11/46), lot 1715; Lee J. Lahrman Collection, (Abe Kosoff, 2/63), lot 159; unknown intermediary; purchased by Mac MacDonald at the Washington DC Show, Chester, Pennsylvania, date unknown.
