Light Brown Chain Cent, VF20 PCGS
1793 Chain 1C AMERICA VF20 PCGS. S-2, High R.4. The Wide Date variety is easily recognized by the distance between the 7 and the 9 in the date. As with all Chain Cents, the reverse displays much stronger definition than the obverse. The surfaces overall show the light brownish-yellow color that is so desirable on early copper (and is so seldom seen). A few darker coppery-brown and olive patches are noted around the devices on the reverse and in the fields on the obverse. This Chain cent is sure to be of great interest to both type and variety collectors.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 223F, PCGS# 1341, GSID# 1213)
