Description

Scarce and Desirable S-61 Grading VF 20

1794 S-61, R.4. Sharpness of VF 25, net VF 20. Dark-brown fields offset the lighter devices. There is one minor intermittent scrape from the right edge of the cap into Liberty's hair, and on the reverse there are three similar scrapes, one from the wreath to the C of CENT, another through the I of AMERICA, the last from the numerator extending right to the rim below the ribbon end. A glass will locate minor roughness, but still a charming specimen to represent this variety. The obverse die is clashed below LIB of LIBERTY.
