Description
Suitable 1794 Liberty Cap Cent, XF 45 From the Litrenta Collection.
1794 XF 45. S-31, R.1. A pleasing, chocolate-brown example of this early large cent with red highlights on the reverse. This variety displays the characteristic die chips in the obverse field behind Liberty's head and the longest fraction bar in the entire 1794 series. Although noticeably worn across the highpoints, this specimen retains all of its major design features and the faces are free of noteworthy post-production abrasions. We do, however, report several visible rim bumps and a small spot on the obverse after LIBERTY. As with all Liberty Cap large cents, this issue is very difficult to find in this level of preservation and should elicit strong bids from early copper enthusiasts.
