Late Die State
Near Census Level
1794 1C Head of 1794 AU50 PCGS. CAC. S-65, B-51, R.1. Breen
Die State IX. This is the latest die state recorded in the Breen
reverse, and both dies have extensive cracks. That through the
final S is heavy from the border to the top of the E in ONE and
continues to the T in CENT. The famous Shielded Hair variety,
so-called as the left obverse border is heavy and protected the
hair strands from wear.Housed in a green-label PCGS holder, this splendid cent is finer than most survivors. Our EAC grade places this piece among the top 10 known examples. The surfaces are smooth and mark-free dark olive-brown with a few splashes of lighter tan. Our EAC grade XF40.
