1794 Liberty Cap Cent, AU50
Head of 1794, S-65
1794 1C Head of 1794, S-65, B-51, R.1, AU50 PCGS. Breen Die
State VI. Sheldon-65 was dubbed the "Shielded Hair" variety by
Edward Maris in his 1869 reference, and the nickname has stuck for
the past 150 years. On the present lightly circulated example, the
neck curls are bold and exhibit luster. The obverse is
mahogany-brown, while the reverse displays mottled tan, peach,
rose, olive, and russet shades. Mentionable contact is limited to a
slight obverse rim knock at 2 o'clock. Our EAC grade VF30.From The Maltese Collection.
