1794 Head of 1794 Cent, VF35
S-65, Shielded Hair Variety
1794 1C Head of 1794 VF35 PCGS. S-65, B-51, R.1. A charming
example of the "Shielded Hair" variety. The present piece confirms
the nickname, since the hair beneath the cap is splendidly
detailed. The obverse die is misaligned toward 1 o'clock, as usual
for S-65, causing weakness of impression on the RT in LIBERTY and
opposite on the ICA in AMERICA. The steel-gray and mahogany-brown
surfaces are minimally abraded and pleasing. Our EAC grade
VF25.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 223M, PCGS# 901374, Greysheet# 723)
