A San Diego, California native, Jack H. Robinson was born in 1941 and died in 2021. He was the seventh person to complete the Sheldon numbered series of early cents when he acquired a 1795 S-79 Reeded Edge cent from the 1986 Robinson S. Brown, Jr. sale. Superior Galleries sold Robinson's collection in January 1989. Robinson joined Early American Coppers in 1981. He joined Richard McLaughlin to conduct coin auctions as McLaughlin and Robinson, starting in 1983. The firm disbanded after Jack sold his collection. For many years, he produced price guides for half cents and large cents, known as Copper Quotes by Robinson.
