Description

Second Finest Known 1795 NC-3 Cent

1795 1C Plain Edge Fair 2 NGC. Fair 2 EAC. NC-3, High R.7. An example of this variety was acquired by Jack Beymer in July 1979 but not identified as a new, unpublished variety until nine months later in April 1980. This example and the other Fair 2 in the Census were both discovered in 1993, and the finest known, an AG3 coin, was discovered in April 1994. No others have been located since that time. Like every other example of this variety identified to date, just enough of the present coin is visible for positive attribution. Only four examples have been identified to date, with the finest of these grading just AG3.
