Description

1795 NC-3, B-7 Cent, Fair 2
Tied for Third Finest Known

1795 1C Plain Edge Fair 2 NGC. NC-3, B-7, High R.7. Our EAC Grade Fair 2. Ex: Mervis Collection. This obverse die also appears on the plentiful S-76b cent. This is one of two recent discoveries of the variety. Jack Beymer discovered the variety in 1979, and publicized his discovery in 1980. The discovery coin grades Basal State-1. Since then, five others have been identified, each in a low grade from Fair 2 to Good 4. Slight evidence of cleaning appears at the upper obverse on this pleasing piece. The surfaces are remarkably smooth for the grade, with trivial handling marks on each side.
