Description
Plain Edge 1795 Large Cent
MS63 Brown Example of S-78
1795 1C Plain Edge MS63 Brown PCGS. CAC. S-78, B-8, R.1.
Housed in a early PCGS holder with white foam insert. The S-76B and
S-78 are the two most plentiful 1795 large cent varieties, and the
only two plain edge pieces that are obtainable without difficulty
in Mint State grades. This pleasing olive and light tan piece has a
few dull toning splashes on each side that should serve for
identification. The surfaces have the usual tiny planchet marks,
along with other postmint abrasions that are insignificant. Typical
of the variety, the peripheral details are weak and the central
design elements are sharper. Our EAC grade AU55.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2009), lot 3582; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5/2009), lot 57.
