The Parmelee-Newcomb-Halpern-Naftzger S-78
1795 Plain Edge S-78, R.1. Sharpness MS 61 Brown, net MS 61. An outstanding coin for the grade, the surfaces are tan and lustrous, with a hint of bluish color in the fields. Boldly struck, slightly off-center toward Liberty's cap point, on a decent planchet. Identifiable by a minute tick mark on Liberty's temple, and by the errant centering, confirming that this is the Parmelee-Newcomb specimen. Although many choice mint state examples are known, few have the illustrious pedigree that this coin has, and few could have any better surfaces or color.
