Description

1796 1C Liberty Cap Fine 15 PCGS. S-89, B-10, R.3. The so-called "crowded head" obverse, with the 1 nearly touching the hair and the top of the 6 joined to the bust. The L in LIBERTY is connected to the cap, while the BE leans right and is distant from the LI. A pair of berries on each side of CENT is diagnostic for the reverse, as well as the single leaf below the R in AMERICA. Lovely chocolate-brown patina covers both sides of this final Liberty Cap issue. There is significant detail remaining although the OF and ONE CENT are slightly softer. A charming type coin. EAC 8.(Registry values: N991)
