Description
1798 AU 50 Corroded. S-174, Low R.2. Coins from this die pair are distinguished by a short projection at the top of the 1 in the date and a very short fraction bar. The striking details are well defined on each side except at the top of LIBE and around the fraction. The surfaces are uniformly dark, almost jet-black with finely granular surfaces, made so from light corrosion. Altogether a pleasing coin in appearance with minor surface problems.
