Description
1799 VG 8. S-189, R.4. A pleasing, low grade example of this rare, key date in the Large cent series. Heavily worn at the rims and affecting parts of the peripheral legends, the devices have a light brown color with much deeper patina in the fields and recesses of the devices. There is a slight edge dent at 4 o'clock on the obverse, a horizontal mark in the middle-back part of the hair curls, and a small angling mark in the area of the collarbone also on that side. On the reverse there is a planchet flake out of the upper right loop of the bow. Very rare and a date that is of the utmost importance to copper collectors.
