Description
Perfect Date 1799 Cent in VG
1799 VG 8 PCGS. Perfect Date. S-189, High R.2. The 1799 is one of the most popular and highly sought after of all of the big coppers. Only one perfect date variety is known for the year along with two overdates, one of which is non-collectible. The fields are deep brown in color with lighter accents on the devices. The date is weak, as often seen, with strong definition on the word LIBERTY. Two areas of surface marks are noted: one is a long series of short scratches along the bottom of the bust of Liberty, the other an area of pinscratching in the wreath above the O in ONE.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2246, PCGS# 1443, GSID# 780)
