Description
1799 Cent With VF Details
1799 VF 20. S-189, High R.2. One of the most famous and highly sought-after dates in all of U.S. numismatics. The S-189 is the only non-overdate from the year, there being two overdates (one of which is non-collectible). This piece has even, dark-brown color with numerous small abrasions on each side, the only one worthy of mention for pedigree purposes is a tiny dig near the obverse rim at 2 o'clock. The word LIBERTY is quite bold, and while the date is less well-defined, each digit is still fully legible, just a bit softly impressed, as often seen. A pleasing, uncleaned example of this key early copper.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2246, PCGS# 1443, GSID# 780)
