Important 1799 Cent
1799 1C Good 6. S-189, High R.2. Better detailed than most examples of this rare, key date. The date is strong enough to easily make out the digits and to readily identify this as a perfect date and not an overdate. Each side is peppered with numerous small abrasions that detract somewhat, but the only surface flaw that deserves individual mention is a planchet void between the upper serifs of IB in LIBERTY. The surfaces have a slightly mottled medium to darker brown coloration, and the central devices seem a bit weaker defined than the surrounding peripheral details. Actually, this is quite a pleasing, original example of this important early copper issue.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2246, PCGS# 1443, GSID# 780)
