Description
Exceptional 1800/79 Sheldon-196 in VF 30
1800/79 S-196, R.1. Sharpness of VF 30, net VF 30. Choice and desirable for its lovely chocolate-brown color and glossy surfaces. Absolutely free of rim marks, and showing only a few unimportant handling marks on both sides. The tops of the letters of LIBERTY are a bit weak, otherwise fully struck throughout. Identifiable by a small center spot above the left upright of N of CENT, and a tiny pit above the last A of AMERICA. An impressive, solid, high-grade example of this scarce overdate.Ex: John Christensen (Excelsior Coin Gallery), 2/85; Fred H. Borcherdt; Robert E. Matthews (Matthews Money Tree).
