Description
Condition Census S-208 1800 Draped Bust Cent
1800 1C AU 50 Scratched. S-208, R.3. A remarkable example of this variety, the lightly patinated, tan-brown surfaces reveal splashes of deeper brown color toward the peripheries. There are a few thin, shallow scratches in the left obverse field, but these are faint and barely noticeable. While not a rare variety, this die pairing is difficult to locate in grades above the Fine level. The finest known, according to published Condition Censuses, is an XF 40 coin, a fact that underscores the importance of this uncommonly well defined example.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2248, PCGS# 1449, GSID# 783)
