Description
High Rarity 6 1800 NC-3 Fine 15 with Light Porosity
1800 NC-3, R.6. Sharpness of Fine 15 Lightly Porous, net VG 8. The surfaces are lightly and uniformly porous. Toned a dark steel-brown with clean surfaces for the grade. Identifiable by a tiny mark just below Liberty's ear, a tiny tick mark at the top of the B of LIBERTY, and on the reverse by a minute tick mark on the left ribbon end (noted here for future pedigree tracing). An impressive example of this sought-after rarity, of which perhaps 15 examples are known, this particular piece is tied for third finest known with one other example. The diagnostics of this variety, the Unfinished Ciphers and the Spike From the Top of I of AMERICA are clear to the unaided eye. This will certainly be a hotly contested lot in this important copper sale.Ex: McCawley-Grellman (1/97), lot 235.
