Choice Uncirculated 1802 Large Cent, PCGS MS 64 Brown
1802 MS 64 Brown PCGS. Stemless Wreath. S-231, R.1. A diagnostic die break shows in the right obverse field, bending into RT of LIBERTY. Although this is a common variety, conditionally speaking, a choice uncirculated example is very rare. The Stemless reverse is a very popular "Red Book" variety, and this is undoubtedly one of the finest examples known. PCGS has certified only this MS 64, with a single MS 65 finer, NGC has certified one MS 65. Struck on an unusually smooth planchet, the surfaces are now a muted, brick-red and brown color. The reverse is rotated about 30 degrees to the left and there is a small milling mark to the left of the hair at 8 o'clock. A choice and rarely offered Large cent.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 224F, PCGS# 1470, GSID# 798)
