Description
1802 1C VF25 PCGS. S-235, B-15, R.3. This early die state shows only faint evidence of clashing on the obverse. Subtly different from S-234, this die pairing has the curl pointing to the middle of the B rather than the upright (as seen on S-234). The surfaces are charcoal-gray with slightly lighter accents over the high points of the design. Lightly marked, a couple of irregular planchet flakes are noted in the reverse fields and there is a straight strike-through depression in the right obverse field. Our EAC grade Fine 15.Purchased (4/1988).
From The Phillip Clover Collection of U.S. Large Cents.
