Description

1804 1C Restrike MS65 Brown PCGS. This privately produced piece combines two original U.S. Mint large cent dies sold as scrap metal. The obverse was originally used for 1803 S-261 (with the date altered to 1804) and the reverse was originally used for 1820 N-12. The obverse displays iridescent lavender, orange, and powder-blue patina. The reverse is olive-gold. There are no visible post-strike distractions. Our EAC grade MS60.
Ex: Los Angeles Signature (Heritage, 7/2009), lot 66, which realized $2,300.
