Description

Late Dies Key 1804 Cent, VF25
S-266, B-1

1804 1C VF25 PCGS. CAC. S-266, B-1, R.2. The final major die state with large cuds above the RTY in LIBERTY and the MERIC in AMERICA. This is a medium brown representative with olive undertones at the reverse center. No marks are worthy of comment, and the strike is consistent save for softness on the bust tip and STATES OF. Only a single die pair was used to strike the 1804, and as a date, it is among the rarest in the large cent series, challenged primarily by the 1799. MRB Fine 15.(Registry values: N2998)
