Description
1806 S-270 Cent, AU55
Conditionally Challenging
1806 1C S-270, B-1, R.1, AU55 PCGS. Breen Die State IV with
the field bulged near the 06 in the date. The 1804 and 1806 are the
only Draped Bust cent dates known by a single die marriage. While
the 1804 is a famous rarity, the 1806 is available in
well-circulated condition. But in XF and better grades, the 1806 is
surprisingly scarce. Unlike the 1806 half cent, no hoards in high
grade emerged for the 1806 cent, and nice AU examples are
desirable. This well-defined specimen displays mahogany-brown
toning with lilac accents. A spot is noted on the back of Liberty's
head.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 224L, Variety PCGS# 36436, Base PCGS# 1513, Greysheet# 80055)
