1810/09 S-281, B-1 Cent, MS63 Brown1810/09 1C MS63 Brown PCGS. S-281, B-1, R.1. Our EAC Grade AU58. Breen Die State IV, or later, with heavy flowlines and a raised ridge over STATES, but no evidence of clash marks on either side, probably lapped off the die. This is the popular and once controversial overdate variety, although there seems to be little question of its status today. In the past it was known either as 1810 over 09, or 1810 over 08. The surfaces are frosty with full cartwheel luster and dark brown patina with splashes of deeper steel toning and subtle traces of original mint red. A faint, old scratch is visible from the back hair curls to the rim just left of star 8. Tied for seventh finest in Del Bland's Census and 10th finest in Bill Noyes' Census.
