Description
Mint State S-282 1810 Classic Cent
1810 MS 61 Brown. S-282, R.2. The mint luster is still glossy and the surfaces are light to medium brown overall with an occasional hint of faded red here and there. The grade of the coin is derived not from any lack of luster, but rather from a number of small abrasions scattered across each side and a small rim bump at 7 o'clock on the reverse. The dies were slightly out of alignment at the time of striking, causing this piece to be a bit soft on the left portion of each side but fully defined elsewhere. Probably Condition Census, depending how one nets out the small marks and rim bump. The C.C. listed in Noyes' reference is 65-63-60-55 (multiples).Ex: Strong Museum (Stack's, 1991), lot 2545.
