Description

Third Finest 1810 S-283 Cent

1810 1C MS62 Brown NGC. AU55 EAC. S-283, Die State III, R.3. This may be later than Die State III, but the left obverse border runs off the margin of the coin. Although lightly struck, this is a splendid example with lustrous medium brown surfaces and considerable golden-tan color, faded from original mint red. A short thin scratch is visible from the border below the digit 1 in the date. AU or finer grade examples of this variety are infrequently offered for sale in the public auction marketplace. This is only the third auction appearance of any AU or better example since this coin was last sold in 1986.
