    Description

    1811 S-287 Cent, MS65 Brown
    Among the Finest Certified

1811 1C S-287, B-1, R.2, MS65 Brown NGC. An extraordinary Gem. Classic Head cents are rare at the MS65 level. Our Auction Archives show only two comparable examples, the MS65 Red PCGS Oliver Jung specimen from this year's FUN auction, and the MS65 Red and Brown PCGS Eugene H. Gardner specimen we sold in May 2015. This rose-red and lilac Gem is well struck save for the left-side stars. Contact is minimal, and the eye appeal is exceptional. There are only two 1811 die pairs, the 1811/0 S-286 overdate and the Normal Date S-287. The latter can be identified by a radial die crack or die line through star 5. Our EAC grade MS62.
