Description
Choice AU 1813 Classic Cent
1813 AU 55 NGC. S-292, R.2. An uncommonly high grade for this elusive type that is seldom seen better than a well worn VG or Fine. This glossy, dark brown example may fall just outside the Condition Census when its few defects are netted out. The C.C. as listed in the Noyes' reference is 65, 60, 55 (multiples). On the obverse there are several dark streaks of carbon, but the reverse is virtually free of these defects. Just a bit off-center, the dentils are irregularly struck with no clear definition on the reverse.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 224X, PCGS# 1570, GSID# 861)
