Description
Full Mouse 1817 N-3 Cent, MS63 Brown
1817 1C 13 Stars MS63 Brown NGC. MS63 EAC. N-3, Late Die State, R.2. This is one of the 1817 "mouse" varieties with a die chip on top of Liberty's head, located below star 8. The shape of this die chip gives the appearance of a mouse facing right with a long tail to the left. Four different varieties show similar die breaks, yet each is from a different obverse die. The 1817 N-3 mouse is the scarcest of these four varieties. This is a frosty Mint State example with golden-brown and tan surfaces, and ranks among the top seven examples of the variety. A small area of reddish corrosion is visible between Liberty's head and star 7. The reverse has a few wisps of original orange mint color. Minute rim bumps are also visible on the reverse.Ex: Tangible Investments via Denis Loring (4/92).(#1594) (Registry values: N991)
