Description

Condition Census 1817 N-6 Cent

1817 1C 13 Stars MS65 Brown NGC. MS63 EAC. N-6, Intermediate Die State, R.1. This is a remarkable Condition Census example of the variety and may be one of the four finest known. Both sides have exceptional gold and olive-brown blended with pale blue color. Traces of original mint red remain on the obverse. This is an intermediate die state with some peripheral flowlines visible, yet with strong dentilation on each side. Most known examples of this variety are from later die states with considerable peripheral weakness.
