1821 1C --Improperly Cleaned--NCS. AU Details. N-2, R.1. An important and scarce date with only two known die marriages, and no record of any quantity located in hoards. The Randall Hoard consisted of cents from 1816 to 1820. This is a glossy mauve-violet and olive-yellow example that has a few minor field marks, an occasional obverse rim nick, and only a hint of reverse verdigris. The fields are reflective and prooflike, suggesting an early strike just after the few proofs were coined. MRB XF40.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2258, PCGS# 1621, GSID# 907)
