Description

Seldom-Seen MS63 Brown 1821 Cent, N-2

1821 1C MS63 Brown PCGS. N-2, R.1. Only two die marriages are known for this low mintage date, which did not participate in the Randall Hoard and is thus seldom seen in Mint State. Although designated as Brown, faded orange-red graces much of the reverse, along with olive-brown and mahogany shades. The cheek has a blush of steel-gray. Well struck throughout, with each of the star centers showing impressive definition. No marks are remotely worthy of comment, and the eye appeal is exceptional for a cent of this conditionally challenging date. MRB AU55. Population: 5 in 63 Brown, 2 as MS63 Red and Brown, 1 as MS63 Red, none finer (6/09).(Registry values: N4719)
