Description
NGC-Certified 1822 Large Cent, MS63 Brown
1822 1C MS63 Brown NGC. Ex: Norweb. N-2, R.3. In terms of certified examples, this Select quality representative ranks in the Condition Census for this 1820s Cent delivery. We hesitate calling this coin one of the finest 1822 N-2 Cents extant, however, as Noyes's Condition Census is based on EAC, not third-party grading standards. Nevertheless, this is an attractive coin whose orange-brown surfaces are mostly evenly toned with a well centered impression. The striking definition is sharp in all areas save for over the upper obverse stars. A few scattered carbon flecks are all that separate this coin from an even higher certified grade, although a small spot on the reverse above the E in ONE is also worthy of mention. Population: 2 in 63 Brown, 3 finer (9/01).From the Peter Martinez Collection.
