Description

1823 Restrike MS 64 Brown NGC. A restrike of this rarely seen date in the Coronet series. According to the "Red Book" these pieces were unofficially made at the same as the 1804 restrikes, using a discarded 1823 obverse die and an 1813 reverse die. Both sides are heavily cracked, as usual, with significant accumulations of die rust as well. Deep brown patina covers both sides with considerable underlying iridescence.
