Description
1823 1C Copper Restrike MS62 Brown NGC. N-3, R.2. An attractive example of the circa 1860s so-called Restrike, this is a muling of mismatched dies sold by the Mint as scrap iron. The reverse die was used to strike 1813 cents, hence the inclusion of the present lot within the Clover collection. The rim break at the upper left obverse is bold and in high relief. Attractive tan and steel-blue surfaces. Our EAC grade AU50.Purchased (3/1987).
