Description

Census Level 1823/2 N-1 Overdate Cent

1823/2 1C Unc Details NCS. AU50 EAC. N-1, Late Die State, R.2. The dentils from stars 1 through 3 appear to be fused, indicative of the late die state of this variety. Centering is not perfect, thus this feature of the die state is hard to see. The central details, including all of Liberty and the wreath, are sharply defined. Most of the stars are flat, although a few show radial lines. This is an attractive example of the popular overdate variety. The surfaces have intermingled deep steel and lighter tan color. Under a glass, the fields are not perfectly smooth, yet this coin retains considerable eye appeal. Tied for sixth finest known of the variety. NCS Environmental Damage.
