Description
Condition Census 1825 N-7 Cent
1825 1C MS62 Brown NGC. AU55 EAC. N-7, Late Die State, R.2. This is a lovely example of the late die state N-7 cent with a crack from the rim to hair, between the date and star 13. In addition, the obverse border has a number of crumbled or fused dentils. Although not the terminal state of these dies, this is certainly a later die state than is usually encountered. The fourth finest known example of this variety, according to the Census kept by Del Bland. The surfaces are predominately olive-brown intermingled with dabs of lighter golden-tan coloration. A couple minor scratches are noted on Liberty's cheek.Ex: John Work Garrett (Stack's, 3/76), lot 50; Myles Z. Gerson; Tom Reynolds (3/94).(#1642) (Registry values: N1793)
