Impressive High-Grade 1825 N-4 Cent
1825 1C MS63 Brown NGC. AU50 EAC. N-4, Intermediate Die State, R.3. Although this is a relatively common die variety, not many higher grade coins have been identified. In fact, it appears that there are only one or two Mint State examples known, along with four or five higher grade AU55 coins. This example is frosty and lustrous with olive-brown color. A small patch of maroon patina is visible within Liberty's hair above the coronet. A couple faint, nearly invisible scratches on the obverse limit the grade of this example.Ex: Malcolm Jackson Sale (U.S. Coin Co., 5/13), lot 1309; Howard Newcomb (J.C.
