Early Die State 1826 N-6 Cent
1826 1C MS63 Brown NGC. MS60 EAC. N-6, Early Die State, R.2. Del Bland has 11 finer examples of this variety listed in his notes, and about 10 examples including this coin that are considered MS60. Both dies have numerous tiny rust pits, especially visible on the obverse. Despite all of these rust pits, this is an early die state. The strike is well centered with full borders on each side, and there is no evidence of rim crumbling on the obverse. Lustrous chocolate-brown surfaces have multicolored toning, including splashes of maroon patina among Liberty's hair curls.Ex: Keith Kelman (2/81); Doug Bird (EAC, 4/85).(#1645) (Registry values: N1793)
